VIDEO OF THE DAY: ANDREW BIRD "THE FAKE HEADLINES" (NEW PORNOGRAPHERS COVER)

There are times that the New Pornographers wall of melody is absolutely overwhelming, so it's nice to hear a take on one of their songs that strips away some of the sugary sheen and leaves some of the finer bones of the song preserved beautifully. Not that you would expect any less from the always agile Andrew Bird, but his cover serves the song wonderfully without straying too far from Bird's world of sound. It's easy, it's breezy, and it's beautiful. What a cover, girl. 

This and many other covers will be appearing on GOOD PEOPLE ROCK, a compilation put together by Dan Mangan for Montreal charity Yellow Bird Project. The compilation will be released April 14, 2015.
